Who pays import charges?
Orders crossing a customs border may attract import duty, local VAT or sales tax, and carrier handling or clearance fees. Unless checkout explicitly states that these charges are included or collected, the recipient is responsible for paying them to the local authority or carrier.
This can apply to deliveries outside the UK, including EU destinations. A delivery charge pays for shipping and does not, by itself, include customs charges.
How much will I pay?
Charges depend on the destination, shipment value, product classification, origin of the goods and local thresholds or reliefs. We cannot give one rate that applies to every order or country.
Check your destination’s official customs guidance or ask the delivery carrier before ordering. Any estimate is subject to the assessment made by the relevant authority.
Customs clearance
The carrier may contact you for payment or information before releasing your parcel. Respond promptly and use official carrier channels. Customs checks may extend the delivery estimate.
We provide accurate shipment information and cannot mark purchased goods as gifts or understate their value.
Refused parcels & returns
Contact us if you are unable to accept a parcel or intend to return it. Refusal of delivery alone is not a substitute for notifying us of a cancellation.
Import charges paid to a customs authority or carrier are not refunded by ALOSH. Your destination may offer a reclaim process for returned goods; keep the delivery and return documents and check with the relevant authority. Any refund from ALOSH is handled under our Refund policy and applicable consumer rights.
